445 | Henny was raised from the age of about nine in the home of Adelaide and Ted Hamilton. His half sisters did not know their true relationship to him until December 2001. He was "their mother's youngest brother". But he loved them all and spoiled them and played the role of Uncle Henny for all of his life.He loved to dance and taught all of his "nieces". In December 2001, I told Mum the truth about Henny. There were lots of tears and lots of hugs. But she said that she had always loved him as a brother, she had always loved him more than any of the other uncles. And she couldn't be happier than to know that she had a brother and that the brother was Henny. (Research):Henny's death certificate correctly records his mother as Adelaide Phemister, but does not identify her as Adelaide Hamilton. The informant is A Hamilton is noted as a cousin. Although there is no first name given, there were only two "A Hamilton" individuals living at 42 Raymond Street, at that time other than his mother, Adelaide; Alfred, husband of Adelaide and Henny's step father, or Agatha, Adelaide's daughter aged 25. Neither could claim to be his cousin, no matter what the circumstances relating to the secrecy surrounding his birth. (Medical):The story, passed down to me by my Mother was that Henny died as a result of blood poisoning following the removal of his teeth. He had suffered from poor nutrition during the Great Depression and his system was unable to withstand the infection. However, his death certificate records his cause of death as Pulmonary Tuberculosis. | Phemister, Lance Henry Harps "Henny" (I2901)
