17 | A small newspaper clipping of unknown origin or date gives the following information about a cricket match that took place on 27th Dec 1937. "Marne Park in their first innings scored 145, Ray Watson top-scoring with 44, and K. Hay 27. District replied with 186, Bob Elliott top scoring with 80 and M Gleeson 37. In their second innings Marne Park compiled 118, Ray Watson again top scoring with 78. District had only 15 minutes to bat in their second innings and lost two wickets for 35. Bob Elliott played one of his best inningsthis season, his driving and cover driving was great to see. Watson's double was his best of the season - his 44 in the firstinnings was good sound cricket, and his 78 in the second was scored in40 minutes. Maurice Gleeson played a good sound knock for District. Keith Hay played a sound knock for 27. Of the bowlers, veteran Harry Dennis was the best getting seven wickets in the match. Keith Hay bowled well, and David and Jim Guild." This match took place on the wedding day of Ray's sister-in-law. Gay. and his fast score in the second innings was due to his trying to get out so that he could leave for the wedding. | Watson, Raymond Maurice "Ray" (I472)

46 | (Research):Elizabeth may be the daughter of Jeremiah and Anne Easonwho was christened on 27 Aug 1669 in Saint Laurence (thanet), Kent,England. Alternatively, she may be the daughter of John and ElizabethEason who was christened on 9 Mar 1669/70 in Scredington, Lincoln,England. The proximity of Kent and Sussex makes the former the morelikely. Or of course she may be neither of these women. In whichcase ... who is she? There is no Elizabeth with a name anything likeEsan in registers anywhere in Essex, except for the record of hermarriage to Thomas. She died on 10 Jan 1727/28 at the age of 57.So her birth should have been within the range 11 Jan 1669/70 to 10Jan 1670/71. Both of the christening dates above fit. But we maynever be able to determine which one, if either, she is. | Esan, Elizabeth (I8067)
