• Notes

  In the 1851 census there is a record of a Mary Anne Weeks aged 71years (this age fits) living at Handley as a lodger with James Pennyand his wife Mary. Obviously James Penny was Mary Anne's brother asthere is only five years between them according to the census. JamesWeeks and Mary Anne had only one child and that was Eliza who waschristened 24-11-1805. Eliza married Henry Gould and named her firstdaughter Marianne Penny (Gould). Obviously after her mother whichappears more like a memorial than anything else. But the 1851 censusrecord leaves little doubt that Eliza's mother was still alive in1851.
