Notes - Isabel was educated to 6th class at Shusburn Scotland, equal to secondyear High School in Australia.She left school at the age of 14 yearsand worked as a "Nanny" to twin boys for 2 1/2 years. The familydecided to move to Australia and Isabel turned 17 yrs during thevoyage from Scotland on board the SS."Orama" and she was very seasick. After arriving with the family in Grafton on 11 August 1930Isabel worked for her sister Nancy milking cows and helping in thehouse. Isabel contacted Rheumatic fever and was unable to work forsome time. When she was well enough Isabel started milking cows forthe Childs family then worked for Mrs Morris for 1.00 pound per weekas a domestic-cow maid. This was a very demanding position so left towork for Mrs. Reardon for 3.00 per month but no milking was involved-she was responsible for looking after two small granddaughters of Mrs.Reardon. Isabel lived with the Reardon family but Mrs. Reardon wasvery hard to live with so left and worked for Mrs. Benson as a tablemaid for 25/- shillings per week. Mr. Benson was the Manager ofYulgilbar homestead, and Isabel was now aged 19 years. Isabel wasintroduced to Earle Hamilton at his Uncle Dick Hamiltons home and theymarried when Isabel was 21 years of age.
