  From Gil Wright - 11 Sep 2019 I didn’t pay much attention to which sub-tree I uploaded - was doing it to help with DNA test (which I finally did at Amazon at the request of the Small family). However, I did find a reference at Australian Royalty (mainly about convicts) which states under the entry for George Sheder’s birth: 25 November 1814 Peasmarsh, Sussex, England, United Kingdom Source: Spurway, John, ed. Australian Biographical and Genealogical Record. Series 1, 1788-1841, with series 2 supplement, 1842-1899. Sydney: A.B.G.R., 1992 Source: Purnell, Marion (editor) Text: James appears to have been born to unmarried parents: James Ashdown and Mary Sheder/Sheader” The record goes on to mention that he died as Ashdown. Earlier than that, they were published in the paper but searching for “SHEADER” is all but impossible as Trove matches this to “SHED”, “SHEDDING”, SHEARING” and similar words in an effort to be helpful. Interestingly, Mary J A SHEADER married George MILLS in 1853 so she hadn’t changed her name. The only other SHEADER birth/marriage or death was Osbert in 1894 born to an Elizabeth SHEADER (no father listed) - presumable not our Elizabeth who was married in 1859 and would have been 54 years old at the time.
