    • After Emily's father died in 1932 she visited her Aunt and Uncle inGrafton. They owned the Commercial Hotel Grafton and the Royal HotalBangalow and were very good friends with Mary & Jack Hamilton ofFineFlower. Jack used to run the mail from Grafton to Baryulgil andwhen in Grafton stayed at the Commercial Hotel. Emily's mother hadcome to Grafton just before Les died in 1941 and she stayed for a fewmore weeks until Emily was more settled. Emily, John & Kevin returnedto Canberra to her parents' home. Priscilla Rogan from Baryulgilwanted Emily to take Grandma Hamilton to live with her and she wouldpay Emily's way, also Ema and Valarrie Alderman who lived in Goulburnoffered a home for Emily and her two sons. Emily rejoined theworkforce and worked in Sydney and Canberra. She finally worked inthe Public Service with the Dept. of Works. After Emily retired,she rented her home in Canberra and went to Batemans Bay to live for afew years but returned to Canberra. Emily owned a home at 72 HentyStreet, Braddon, Canberra.
