  Following their marriage Earle and Isabel lived at "Keybarbian"Broadwater, home of Earle's parents. Earle found work at YulgilbarStation as a stockman and they moved into the house provided with theposition - paid 13 pound per month. They bought a car, paying adeposit of 50 pound and paid it off at 3 pound per month. Earleworked on all the fences of the property. He was sacked by theManager because he had lent the car to their next door neighbours butthe Manager thought Earle was driving and not working. Despiteclearing the situation up they decided to move to Grafton. Isabel andEmy (Les's wife) moved in together for a while and shared the rent.Granny Hamilton paid 100 pound deposit on a house at 5 Little MaryStreet Grafton (now Bowtell Avenue) to help Isabel and Earle get astart in life. Granny lived with them for a while, and then spenttime going around her family members living 3 months with each. Earlewas employed by the Main Roads Board and drove a truck for 10 years.Received a special certificate for careful driving. At 6.10pm onApril 17 1971 Earle was struck by a car in Pound Street Grafton - hesustained a fractured skull and both legs broken. After weeks inhospital Earle returned to the family home but never worked again. Asettlement of $26,000 was obtained and the home renovated. Duringtheir life at Bowtell Avenue both Isabel and Earle were keengardeners.
