    • In the Parish Register the child's name given as May. Other records show her as Marsly or Marsley Margery Phemister (nee Grant).
      Marsley is likely to have been actually Marsali, which is pronounced MARS-LEE in the HIghlander dialect. It is the Scottish form of Margery. Hence the anglicized version of her name as given on her Australian records and inscribed on her tombstone (which was erected many years later by her descendants).
